Get the tree that you want to light up and open it up in Photoshop. | |
Make a new layer and take out a 3px paintbrush. Put some random dots all over for lights. | |
Go into the blending options for that layer. Color overlay with red and also add an outer glow. Choose red as the outer glow color and adjust the settings until you have a nice soft outer glow with a red center. In particular, spread and size are the two you'll adjust -- I used about 10 for each. | |
Do the same for a few more colors. I'll use green and blue. | |
Save the image as a .psd and open it up in Image Ready. The above steps can be done totally in Image Ready as well, but most people are just more familiar with Photoshop. Just use what you're most comfortable with. |
